FIVA World Event for Cars - 8 to 12 June 2022

The team around Kamen Mikhailov of our Bulgarian ANF, Bulgarski Avtomobilen Klub Retro (BAC Retro), has been working hard and with great enthusiasm on the FIVA World Event for Cars, which will take place from 8 to 12 June 2022. A very varied programme awaits the participants. The Event offers a unique opportunity to get to know Bulgaria, the country and its people.
Start and finish are each day in the historic city of Plovdiv, which in 2019 was the European Capital of Culture. It is a very old city with a rich past and many picturesque places. Thanks to the stay in the four-star Ramada Trimontium hotel, in the centre of the city, you will be able to start each day well rested.
The programme will also offer enough space to enjoy the landscape and culture in a relaxed atmosphere. And, of course, to enjoy the company of the fellow participants.
And fortunately, there are hardly any Covid 19 related restrictions any more, certainly not for people who are fully vaccinated. Bulgaria is a safe country in all respects. I myself have visited the country several times, and with much pleasure have driven many thousands of kilometres in the very different landscapes the country offers. Bulgaria is a member of the European Union. That means that citizens from other European countries can easily travel in and out of the country, by historic vehicle as well.
That actually is what I intend to do, to drive all the way to Bulgaria with one of my own old-timers, taking our time to get there. We even had a route via Lviv in Ukraine in mind, to take part in an event there, but the brutal invasion of Ukraine has thwarted that plan. From Lviv we would have had to drive more than 1200 km to get to Plovdiv! That is how far Bulgaria is from Ukraine, a country like Germany is closer!
I am sure that when you participate in this FIVA World Event you will talk about it for years to come. So be there, and call on your club members to sign up for the Event while it is still possible. The deadline for registration is 18 May.
