Published: 08/09/2021

Transport Museum Wythall’s August Bank Holiday Monday West Midland’s Municipal event was proclaimed a great success in long-awaited fair weather with over 700 visitors. All four of the original municipal bus companies in the West Midlands were represented.

TMW ran Daimler Roadliner 719 from Wolverhampton Corporation, massive Daimler CRC6 and Daimler Fleetline 116 from Walsall Corporation, West Bromwich Fleetline 101 and regular visitor Coventry Fleetline 135, in service while Roger Burdett’s fabulous Daimler four – 94/244/334/366 - represented Coventry Corporation. From the Black Country Living Museum bus fleet came West Bromwich Guy GS 252 and single-deck Daimler CVG5 156.

Completing the municipal display fleet were ever-welcome friends at National Express West Midlands with Wolverhampton, Walsall and West Bromwich examples from their retro-liveried fleet.

First time out at a rally and far from its original home was Devon General AEC Reliance 74, James Eastwood’s latest restoration.

A wide selection of vehicles ran in service during the day with a more intense ‘happy hour’ in the afternoon enabling enthusiasts and families alike to enjoy a day of variety in design and livery nostalgia from long gone operators across the region.
