Scam warning - fake emails in circulation

Published: 23/11/2023

The Federation has been made aware of a fresh wave of scam emails, which claim to be able to sell our database.

We can confirm that this is a scam and that our database has not been hacked or otherwise compromised.

The scam works by getting the victim to say 'yes' and send money to the fake company, after when nothing else will be heard as they do not have any products.

The Federation has reported the scam to the government's  National Cyber Security Centre.  For more details see: https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams

The emails appear to have been generated by 'scraping' the internet for clubs' details, and come from a number of similar email addresses and names, including 'Sarah' and 'Paula'. A sample of the scam email is below.

Please do not hestitate to contact us if you have any concerns about an email you have received.
