Published: 22/10/2013

22nd October 2013. Parliamentarian, Greg Knight, a leading figure in the historic vehicle movement, has been Knighted, Downing Street announced yesterday (21 October 2013). Sir Greg entered parliament in 1983 so by the criterion used to define one of his beloved historic vehicles he is an historic parliamentarian.

He has served the historic vehicle movement throughout his career and is presently chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicle Group. He is in constant touch with the movement through his own attendance at events and through close contact with the movement’s representative body, the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC).

Commenting on the award, FBHVC chairman, David Whale said, “We are delighted to learn of Sir Greg’s Knighthood. He has been a tireless supporter of historic vehicle enthusiasts whilst balancing this with a frenetic diary of constituency and parliamentary duties. Somehow he also manages to be very generous with his time
to charity and even plays drums in the world’s only parliamentary rock band!”
