Footman James to celebrate the nation

Published: 14/04/2020

Specialist classic car insurance provider, Footman James, has launched a hunt for Britain’s classic community champions.

In a bid to spread some cheer and find silver linings at an otherwise dark time, the insurance firm has announced an initiative, celebrating the people up and down the country who are heroes to their community.

Many aspects of the highly sociable classic car scene are run by volunteers, from car clubs and car events, through to motorsports marshalling and even charitable fundraising, so with the Classic Community Champion, Footman James wants to find the people who really make a difference.

The competition is running as part of the “Merry Motoring” series,  a light-hearted weekly newsletter from Footman James providing entertainment and warm-hearted motoring stories from across the internet.

The public are invited to submit their nominations via the Footman James website, and the weekly winner will receive a Lego model of their choice (up to £150) and a £150 donation to their charity of choice.

The first Classic Community Champion to be crowned is Reverend Adam Gompertz. Adam was nominated by Gregory Kilmurray for being a pillar of his local classic community, which includes the organization of two monthly meets in Shrewsbury and Enville, with the money raised from these going to charity.

David Bond, Footman James' Managing Director added: “At a time when we would normally be getting out and about in our classic vehicles, we wanted to give the winners a reason to enjoy staying inside and, with a choice of Lego kits to build, we hope that it will pass the time. The charitable donations will hopefully go a small way towards giving favoured causes a small boost, and above all, we want to give people a reason to smile."
