WHEN: 11.00 Friday 10th November

The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs’ annual press briefing has become something of a show-opening tradition at the Classic Motor Show. In 2023, we have even more amazing news than ever to share with journalists, clubs, and the wider historic vehicle industry.

In this briefing, you will get an overview of the big stories, concerns, and activities within the historic vehicle movement over the past 12 months. This will include some predictions for the future and of course the opportunity to ask questions of the FBHVC on its activities and discover more about its many valuable partners.

The highlights below give a quick snapshot of who we will be speaking to during the briefing and available afterwards for comment and interview:

  • Childline®

Our balloon arch will feature a 1914 11.2-litre Peerless to celebrate that Drive It Day & Ride It Day raised £50,088 in 2023 - an increase of 8.4% over 2022. The NSPCC’s “One Unforgettable Day” award will be presented.

  • Tree-V in partnership with FBHVC.

Tom Worthington will be explaining how we are celebrating 3.7 million miles of historic vehicle motoring carbon balanced since December 2021.  Next target – 4 million miles!

  • Genus IT

We will be launching the new FBHVC Recollect Digital Platform for FBHVC member clubs wanting to archive both printed and physical material to make it safe in the future and available for members to access.

Our archiving partners will be demonstrating the latest document scanning technology using their new Zeutschel OS A equipment – specially designed to safeguard the archive material within the historic vehicle world and particularly useful for clubs.

The Village Green will be showcasing a ‘White glove’ scanning demonstration for FBHVC member clubs – live throughout the show.  On display will also be a World War 2 Kodak Recordak scanning machine, celebrating the long history of this area of technology.
