Husband and wife Paul and Sharon have each owned a Frogeye since the early 1980s and got into sprinting and hill climbing their road cars, before moving to a purpose-built circuit racer. 

Over the years, success followed in their own cars and when Paul was asked to race cars for owners, many of whom have since become close friends. 

From these successes the pair started to receive enquiries to prepare cars for others. Eventually an all-consuming hobby became a business. 

Initially specialising in Austin Healeys, today Woolmer Classic Engineering  prepares a wide range including MG, Elva, Turner, HWM, Cooper, Tojeiro and Alfa.

Son, Richard joined the business whilst studying at Silverstone Motorsport College and Woolmer Classic Engineering  employs a great team of local people, working from Paul and Sharon’s home in North Bedfordshire. 

Woolmer Classic Engineering builds lasting relationships with its clients and their cars. In addition to looking after classic road cars, it prepares cars for a range of events including Goodwood Revival, Festival of Speed and Members Meeting, Classic Le Mans, Mille Miglia, Peking to Paris, Round the World Rally, New Zealand Rally, Tour Auto, Salon Privé, Hampton Court Palace Concours and many more.

Paul is recognised as a leading authority on ex-works BMC competition cars, Austin Healeys in particular. WCE look after an impressive selection of these ex-works cars for clients, many form part of discrete private collections which WCE oversees.

Paul and Richard’s race experience pays huge dividends when setting up cars on Woolmer Classic Engineering’s rolling road. It has helped many novice drivers on their motorsport journey, many to become trophy winners. Its FIA MGB and Escort Mk1 RS2000 hire cars are a great way to ‘try before you buy’.
