A family run auction house specialising in classic and vintage vehicles and automobilia.
Established in 1970, the business developed an enviable reputation whilst trading from several retail sites in Bedfordshire.

A move to North Yorkshire in 1989 resulted in our business of retailing selected used cars expanding with the addition of Skoda and Kia dealerships. With our passion for all things vintage, it was inevitable that a move to solely classic and vintage sales and restoration would follow.

Many years of retailing classics countrywide followed with the restoration and sales of MG TD's becoming a specialty.

2011 saw a drastic change of direction with the introduction of the auction business. From humble beginnings in a Bedfordshire village, a major auction house has been established which currently offers in excess of 3000 vehicles a year and a similar number of memorabilia items pre-covid.

We are hoping that open sales will resume in the near future.

2019 saw the launch of a new exciting chapter being the Bangers and Cash television series based on the day-to-day exploits of Mathewson's. A spin-off show highlighting the trials and tribulations of purchasing and restoring a classic is currently being produced and is due to be aired in summer 2022.

We do realise the importance of retaining a personal relationship with our customers, both buyers and vendors, and as such will make every effort to maintain and improve our level of service.
