Wartburg Trabant IFA Club tackles inflation with 17% cut in membership fees

A 17% cut in the annual membership renewal fee is the latest initiative by the Wartburg Trabant IFA Club, as it seeks to help tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

The club – which welcomes anyone with a vehicle from the former Eastern Europe – is keen to help members cope with rising inflation. It brings the cost for renewals down to £10 for a year – with a special deal of £20 for two years. The normal price is £12 per year.

“At a time when prices are rising, we have swiftly responded to feedback from members,” says Chairman Mel Holley.

“Although we’ve already got one of the lowest membership prices in the country, after some members told us that they are struggling the committee made a rapid decision to offer a little help to everyone”.

“Thanks to careful management our finances are robust so we can afford to do this, and spread the benefit for two years as well” adds Treasurer Diane Thorpe.

Everyone is welcome to join, whether they have a vehicle or not. The club also produces a newsletter, has various discount schemes and organises regular events. The joining fee is £12.00

The IFA Club is the home of eastern bloc classics and its 300 members have vehicles covering a remarkable 42 makes, produced before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. 

The club professes no political affiliations, but welcomes all who have an interest in the technical pedigree of the eclectic vehicles produced in former Eastern Bloc countries. The club does not celebrate nor share the politics of those regimes, and acknowledges the suffering that many people endured under them.
