Transport Museum Wythall opens its doors for 2021 on May 22nd
Published: 02/03/2021
Following the announcement of the Government’s road map to recovery and the museum re-opening date, Transport Museum Wythall will commence its 2021 operations on Saturday May 22nd, adding Sunday opening from July 25th and Wednesday opening from July 28th.
Spring Bank Holiday will also see the museum open on May 30/31st with visiting buses and sales stands.
Dave Taylor, TMW Chairman, said: At last we can ‘start our engines’ once again and get back to near normality, welcoming both staunch supporters and new faces looking for fresh air and freedom in an enjoyable day out with the family once again. The whole team is ready to go with several new vehicles joining our running fleet over the ensuing weeks’.
TMW is also planning a ‘Bus Boot Fair’ in May, preceding the official opening day. The event will be held in the open air (still in Step 2 of the road map when the museum buildings are still closed) and will offer a wide variety of items for sale including classic bus components from the museum’s stores plus memorabilia, books, models and even items of uniform. The date will be announced on the website as soon as possible along with a list of some of the items available for sale. So if you’re looking for elusive parts or something collectible, this could be your day. Admission will be just £2 and everyone is welcome, to browse or just join us for a cup of tea!
TMW is also pleased to announce that it has been awarded the long-awaited planning permission for an extension to its Scania Hall. The extra space that the extension delivers will allow for a new and more spacious layout for vehicles on display and development of some of the themes of the collection. More information will be published later in the season.
