Sussex Drive-it Day is huge - and like no other!

Bodle Street Green saw over 350 vehicles of all types come to the little village in East Sussex on Sunday April 21 'Drive It Day' where they were made welcome by Peter Love and his helpers in the charity fund-raiser.
One of the largest Drive-it Day events - it was probably also the most diverse - as cars, motor-cycles, commercial vehicles, military, steam cars, road steam, tractors and stationary engines came together.
The event saw 72 tractors and some Model T Fords take part in a 17-mile road run ranging in ages from 1913-1992.
People came with vehicles to the event from as far afield as Hampshire and the Boroughs of London and were all given a free refreshment and cake voucher for making the effort for
coming.
Inside the village hall were seven model railway layouts, which were very popular with the many that came. While refreshments was served by two village hall ladies, outside the cabin provided breakfast baps and lunch rolls, if you needed a drink then The White Horse pub opposite, was the place across the road.
With David Vaughan on the PA and the host joining-in people knew what was going on all the time.
Organiser Peter Love said he was delighted to stage the charity event again which he "could not have made happen without my many friends who have come here to keep this tight-site free rolling."
He gave praise to the ladies who booked everyone in and sorted the raffle out. From the day some £1,600 was raised for local charities and Prostate Cancer UK, adding to the £15,000 raised in previous years.
Asked if he was set to do another one in 2025, he answered "yes, people looked
happy and we will run it again, but as always, developing the day further."
