The Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register (STAR) have won The National Car Clubs Awards 2021 for Best Club Online Initiative. This is the judge’s special recognition award for inspirational digital content for its members during the last 12 months. Reaching across the void that lockdown created to support, encourage, and inspire its members to keep passionate about classics.
During Lockdown the club has added significantly to Website content which now has more than 100 original and contemporary periodicals scanned in booklet form and in excess of 130 original Rootes Press photographs. Together with all the period Rootes sales brochures for every model manufactured between 1935 and 1957 plus the current and back issues of Stardust (the acclaimed bi-monthly printed club magazine) the Website provided a welcome escape from Lockdown for record numbers of members. www.sunbeamtalbotalpineregister.co.uk
The club’s STAR Members Facebook group has also seen a significant number of new members during Lockdown with an increase of 50%. John Donegan took the initiative to make a daily post every day during the first Lockdown with 100 posts from 23rd March to 1st July 2020. The posts proved popular with members who participated with many ‘likes’ and ‘comments’. John’s Lockdown 100 posts have been added to the Website and are a poignant reminder of the first Lockdown. www.facebook.com STAR Members.
