Special guests gear up for Reis Race Retro

Published: 24/01/2024

This year’s Reis Race Retro will welcome a fantastic mix of guests who will share their motorsport stories with enthusiasts at Stoneleigh Park from 23-25 February 2024.

The new interview area Talk Motorsport with Reis in Hall 3, hosted once again by Chaz Draycott, will see Ian ‘Fluxie’ Flux make his interview debut. Fluxie has driven classics, single seaters, touring cars, and endurance racers with championship cups to prove it. Whilst destined to race, he never got the biggest breaks, but he did become one of motorsport’s most colourful and best-loved characters and someone who has always lived life to the full.

Fluxie will be sharing his stories as well as signing autographs and copies of his new book For Flux Sake on Saturday and Sunday.

Joining Fluxie on Saturday is John Watson, one of Britain’s most successful racing drivers. Having switched to sports car racing in 1984 – winning for the works Porsche team at Fuji 1000km with German wunderkind Stefan Bellof – Watson made one last Formula 1 appearance for McLaren in the 1985 European Grand Prix.

John ended up racing seven times in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and in 1987 he won three races for the legendary TWR-Jaguar outfit to finish runner-up in the World Sportscar Championship alongside team-mate Jan Lammers.

Following his debut in 2023, the ever versatile and charismatic Mike Wilds will be at Reis Race Retro all three days. Mike began racing in 1965 and has competed in a vast array of machinery, including Formula 3, Formula 5000, Le Mans prototypes, GTs and Touring Cars, driving for works teams and collecting 12 British Championships along the way.

Saturday will also see authors Jeremy Walton and Damien Smith joining the show for interviews and book signings.

Jeremy, a journalist and racing driver, will launch his latest book Fast Fords. Jeremy was on the scene when fast Fords arrived in the early 60s alongside the Blue Oval becoming serious about motorsport. He has tested almost every significant performance derivative ever since, many straight from Ford’s competitions department.

Former editor of Motor Sport and editor-in-chief of Autosport, F1 Racing and Motorsport News, Damien has trawled paddocks from Monaco to Pembrey, Indianapolis to Lydden Hill — and just about everywhere else in between.

Damien will give a fascinating insight in to the unconventional, flamboyant, ground-breaking, controversial Formula 1 team covered in his new book Benetton Rebels of Formula 1.

Defying perceptions as the rebels of Formula 1, Benetton achieved great success, particularly in the two glorious seasons of 1994 and 1995 when the team swept aside the big names — Williams, McLaren and Ferrari — to claim back-to-back World Championship titles for up-and-coming Michael Schumacher.

With more guests still to be announced, the daily schedules will be revealed on the show’s website so enthusiasts can plan their days accordingly.

Talk Motorsport with Reis will be surrounded by a fantastic mix of iconic race and rally cars on display as well as the 20 finalists in the Reis Pride of the Paddock competition, all in the newly added Hall 3.

There will also be the ‘Pie and Pint Pit Stop’ close-by, offering mouth-watering pies from The Crusty Pie Company, and refreshing beers curtesy of Silverstone Brewery, all within hearing distance.

Tickets are now on sale for the show, held from 23-25 February 2024 at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, with free parking for all visitors. For the latest updates and ticket information, visit www.raceretro.com.

  • The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs will be attending the event, on Stand No. 2-237, come and say 'hello'!
