Routemaster Association sets 2024 date and venue for ‘RM70’

Published: 08/06/2023

In 2024, the very first Routemaster bus, RM1, will be 70 years old and to commemorate this significant anniversary the Routemaster Association will be staging a special free event at Finsbury Park in London over the weekend of the 20 and 21 July 2024.

“We are delighted to be returning to Finsbury Park for this special event as we have previously held RM50 (in 2004) and RM60 (in 2014) at this venue” says Routemaster Association Chairman John Ward

“We hope owners and enthusiasts from all over the UK and indeed the world will join us for this unique event to honour the longevity of this iconic vehicle.

“A line-up of Routemasters will be accompanied by attractions for all ages including food and drink. This is to be a community event with involvement of people in the local area, so please come along and see what’s happening”.

The Routemaster Association was formed in 1988 with the aim of supporting new owners who had started to acquire examples of this London icon following the start of large scale withdrawals from London service.

The Association’s principal aims are to share knowledge and operating experience, provide technical information and help with obtaining spare parts.

Membership includes enthusiasts and prominent figures from the transport industry and bus preservation movement.
