The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (The Federation), the lobbying and support group that represents over a quarter of a million historic vehicle enthusiasts, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Fairchild as Financial Controller reporting directly to The Board. James, a qualified and highly experienced chartered management accountant, will be responsible for preparing budgets, and monitoring and reporting on performance. Aside from James’s voluntary commitment to the Federation he runs his own consultancy business advising a portfolio of SME businesses and also teaches accountancy.
James is no stranger to the Federation having served on its Legislation Committee for 12 years. He is a dedicated preservationist whose particular specialism is buses. He has also served more recently on the Communications team and has personally built and developed The Federation’s social media presence.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman David Whale said,
“We are delighted that James has accepted this role. In recent times the Federation’s finances have become more complex as we move into new areas such as apprenticeship training and developing commercial partnerships. This has driven the need for tighter controls and more professional financial planning. The creation of the Financial Controller position was the Board’s response to this challenge. We wish James every success in this new venture for him.
