Dundee Musuem of Transport - Last Horse Drawn Tram - Restoration Project

Did you know that Dundee Museum of Transport is home to the last horse-drawn tram in Dundee?
Horse Drawn Tram No. 24 was introduced into service in 1897 and taken out of service three years later, it ran from the main Post Office in town to Windsor Street at first, then later its route extended to the Westend cemetery along Perth Road.

In 1900 Steam driven trams were introduced which lasted for an even shorter period of time before the electric trams took over, these stayed in service in Dundee until October 1956.?
Since it was built in 1897 there have been several Ad-hoc repairs carried out to the tram. These have impacted on the overall condition and require to be removed and everything reinstated to original condition.
After decommissioning, Dundee horse tram 24 spent almost 100 years as a summer house in Perth. It returned to Dundee in 2014 under the care of the Museum.
Volunteers Brian and Jim have been working hard since March of this year to restore this important piece of Dundee's transport history that we are looking forward to giving pride of place in our new home at Maryfield in 2024. But we need your help.
So far the team have stabilised the structure of the tram and replaced one of the exterior sides, and now it has been turned round to start the next phase of work.
