Discover a palette of possibilities at the British Motor Museum this half term

Published: 11/01/2023

Families can discover a palette of possibilities with a range of colour themed activities at the British Motor Museum during half term from 11 – 26 February. Children can take a colourful stroll through the Museum with the Colour Creator Trail, build a colourful 'ArtBot', enjoy a family Colour in the Collection tour and take part in Science of Colour shows with the Museum’s resident scientists, Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin.

The Colour Creator Trail takes place every day. Children can pick up their 'Colour Creator' Trail and embark on a vibrant journey around the Museum. They can even mix up their own colours on the way! Reward stickers are given to those with the correct answers.

Colourful ArtBot also runs every day when children can build an ingenious 'ArtBot', using a cup, tape, paper and pens, different weights, and battery motor. Children can then watch the completed ArtBot weave their own unique and colourful artwork as it moves!

The Colour in the Collection family tour takes place at the weekends on 11-12, 18-19, 25-26 February at 11.30am and 1.30pm when Professor Pickle or Doctor Pumpkin will take families on this fun and interactive family tour.

The Science of Colour Show runs during the week from 13-17 and 20-24 Feb at 11am, 12pm, 1pm & 2pm with Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin. Children can help the scientists explore the fascinating secrets behind the science of colour and decide what colour to paint their latest great invention.

Emma Rawlinson, Life Long Learning Officer at the British Motor Museum said “It’s all about colour this half term with plenty of hands-on fun activities for families to enjoy. Our Science of Colour show lasts around 30 minutes and will both amaze and fascinate children of all ages!”.
