2021 Motor Club of the Year organised by Motorsport UK

Wigton Motor Club have been placed second in the annual competition organised by Motorsport UK.
The club continued to be active whenever possible during the pandemic and pressed ahead with the building of their Club Headquarters, the Motor House, near Cockermouth.
In the second half of the year they ran the annual Cumbria Classic & Motor Sport Show at Dalemain Mansion which attracted over eight hundred cars and a record number of spectators. The Solway Historic Rally took palce in October. There were also regular autotests and autosolos and the new monthly “Cars and Coffee” meets at the Motor House were well attended.
Despite the pandemic the Club continued to publish its award winning magazine Start Line each month and also managed to attract eighty new members taking the total figure for the year to eight hundred.
The club has ambitious plans for the future despite the ongoing restrictions do the pandemic with new events and social activities as restrictions are lifted. It has managed to continue to support its nominated charities, Blood Bikes and Hospice at Hone.
Wigton Motor Club have a wonderful record in the Motor Club of the Year competition having won twice before, being placed second twice and had several commendations.
A Club Spokesperson said that they were delighted with the award and the £500 cheque and that it was all down to the challenging work of our volunteers.
