Transport Museum Wythall re-opens on Saturday August 8th!
Transport Museum Wythall is proud to re-open its doors on Saturday August 8th, one of the first in the country to welcome enthusiasts and families back into the world of historic transport following almost four months of closure.
Carefully following Government guidelines, particularly on social distancing and sanitising, the museum has created a new layout and visitor experience, with a one-way route through the two transport halls ensuring that visitors will see all the exhibits during their stay. Numbers on site will be restricted through online booking to ensure that social distancing is maintained for the comfort of our visitors. Visits maybe limited to two hours at busy times, dependent on numbers on site.
The museum will be open on Saturdays and Wednesdays through the rest of August, plus August Bank Holiday Monday – August 28th. Visitor numbers will be reviewed on a daily basis and the opening schedule amended as appropriate for September and October.
Bookings are essential to guarantee a place and can be made on the museum website at www.wythall.org.uk/booking. The schedule will commence at 11.00 with the last booking at 15.30 - the museum will close at 16.30. Ticket prices are: £5 adults, £2.50 children (ages 5-16).
Refreshments will be available during the day including tea/coffee and pre-packed snacks but not hot meals. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic lunches with seating areas available.
The children’s play area will be open but not the miniature railway for the time being. Free bus rides are under consideration subject to the enabling of satisfactory social distancing arrangements.
Museum Trustee Dave Taylor said: ‘We are delighted to welcome visitors to Wythall once again. The team has been carefully preparing the ground for several weeks, with strict adherence to Government guidelines ensuring as comfortable an experience as possible in this ‘new normal’.
Any potential visitors who may still wish to hold off for a while are reminded that Wythall has a virtual tour available, including a virtual bus ride at www.wythall.org.uk/vt.asp where donations to the museum can also be made.
