Over 70 clubs were represented at the Federation AGM and conference on 17 October held once again at the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club premises at Paulerspury by kind permission of the Sir Henry Royce Memorial Foundation. It is a superb setting and we are very grateful to the club to allow us to meet there.
The theme of the conference in the afternoon was trade and skills with speakers from the Morris Minor Owners Club (the club point of view), Beaufort Restoration (the trade point of view), and CES UK (the trainers). Clubs need a reliable so
urce of good quality parts and in many cases skilled people to fit them; the restoration companies need skilled labour but are finding it increasingly difficult to find personnel and keep them; the trainers need to know what we all want so that they can try to provide it. Tony Davies, FBHVC director for trade and skills and David Davies, FBHVC deputy chairman (but no relation) summarised the afternoon as very valuable as it had provided a great deal of food for thought both from the speakers and from the floor. The FBHVC may be able to act as an intermediary in all this and will certainly continue to meet with government departments to raise the issues highlighted.
